Fully Funded: The Ownership Myth

Uncle Screwtape, the well-known demon of C.S. Lewis’ creation, said, “Humans are always putting up claims to ownership which sound equally funny in heaven and in hell.” That is, from an eternal perspective, the greedy word “Mine!” is not only sinful—it is downright silly. Mark will teach us this: “Whether you like it or not, you are a steward.” You may be a bad steward or a good steward, but you are certainly not an owner. Let us embrace this principle during our lifetimes, while we can still use our resources to honor God and further His work, rather than losing everything upon death. Let’s follow the example of King David, who gave to the temple fund with all his ability, saying, “Everything in heaven and earth is Yours” (1 Chronicles 29:11).
